Choose great mornings, not lame ones

There are two kinds of mornings.

Mornings when you wake up late…
or early.

When you jump out of bed in panic…
or have time to snuggle with your partner.

When you scramble to put your clothes on…
or scramble some eggs.

When you feel hungover…
or refreshed.

When you hate that it’s Monday…
or feel excited for the week ahead.

The kind of mornings when you sit and enjoy your cup of coffee…
or throw it into a travel mug.

When you skip breakfast…
or eat on the patio and watch the sun rise.

When you turn on the TV or radio…
or read a few pages and take in the silence of morning.

When you get barraged by texts and notifications…
or have your phone set to not disturb.

Mornings when everything is urgent…
or mornings when you define what’s important.

When you leave dirty dishes in the sink…
or clean the dishes and leave a hand written note.

When when you yell “Bye!” and slam the door…
or bring your partner tea in bed.

When you rush around trying to find your keys…
or know exactly where they are.

When you tell yourself you’ll have time to write someday…
or write 500 words just like you did yesterday.

The kind when you rush and rage to work…
or go for your morning run and hit a new personal best.

When you frantically text while driving…
or listen to an audiobook that challenges you.

When you show up late to that meeting…
or on time with an agenda.

When you feel anxious, frustrated, and overwhelmed…
or calm and in control.

Mornings when you’re miserable…
or happy.

Great mornings are a choice. Lame mornings just happen.

Which morning will you choose tomorrow?
